IMG_1069Craig Whitaker is a Philadelphia-based creative professional with over a decade of creative experience. Craig began his career at Apple, teaching a variety of professional applications including Final Cut, Shake, Logic, Aperture, and Color. After leaving Apple, Craig joined Dive/Shooters in Philadelphia as a Visual Effects artist, working on feature films such as Let Me In, I Am Number Four, After Earth and Safe.

In 2012, Craig left Dive/Shooters to join Assembly as their Digital Design Director.  He was tasked with launching, developing and managing a motion graphics/VFX department, working directly with agencies, healthcare companies, non-profits and direct to client to create and produce beautiful visual stories.  In 2013, he became President of the The Foundry’s Philadelphia Nuke User Group, leading conversations about Visual Effects and Post-Production in the market.  During his time at Assembly, Craig also directed, shot, edited and produced many projects for clients such as 20Nine, Penn Medicine, Fiore and One Trick Pony.

Education is one of Craig’s passions.  Currently an adjunct professor at Drexel University, teaching 3D and compositing, he is also an author for Lynda Dot Com, developing and delivering courses on Visual Effects and CG.  Prior to joining Drexel, Craig was an instructor at The Art Institute and Wilmington University.

For 11 years,  he was the founder/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with the group Quick Step John.  His music has been featured on NBC’s Emmy-Award winning show ER, and he has performed with a wide range of groups such as Matchbox 20, members of the Grateful Dead, Sugar Ray, Gavin DeGraw and many others.  He has appeared on NBC10 as well as most of the major radio stations in the Philadelphia area.

At the end of the day, his favorite project is fatherhood.  He currently resides outside of the city with his two sons, would rather be cooking, is fluent in Italian, and plans on living in Italy someday.

Craig is available for freelance creative work and is always looking to join a progressive team.
